It has been some time since the Sumo Power R34 Skyline
'Ichiban' smashed the european 4wd record with a 9.68 quarter mile pass at
Santapod Raceway, 2004 to be exact, check our video vault for the footage of
this awesome run.
Competition in the UK has only progressed very slowly, and there is not anyone in the Japanese scene who has managed to break into the 8's although there is lots of talk of 'Drag Monsters' from Japan with the capabilities, to date its all just been hot air! 'Ichiban' was retired from drag and put back to road spec as waiting in the wings was the new project car 'Fuujin' (see picture on the left - God of wind) It is now September 2006 and 'Fuujin' is looking like it should be ready for its first shakedown at Santapod in October of this year. The car is based on a 1995 R33GTR and will run a HKS Hi-Deck 2.8l engine coupled to a HKS airshift gearbox, the body kit is a Do-Luck item, click the tab below to view the Do-Luck Bodykit range. For its shakedown and the remainder of the year it will run a HKS T51Kai turbo which should produce in the region of 800bhp, given the weight reduction with lightweight panels etc we are hopeful that we can break this 8 second barrier and move Japanese drag racing on and upward to the next level. Keep checking back here for progress on the 'Fuujin' Project
